A new and exciting development on our journey together.
Today, we at Seedbed are grateful.
We are celebrating the culmination of a multi-year process with our parent organization, Asbury Theological Seminary (ATS).
Seedbed was birthed out of ATS on January 6, 2012, through a vision God planted in the heart of then Dean of Chapel John David “J. D.” Walt. Nine years later, in order to help Seedbed flourish in ministry, ATS established Seedbed as a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2021.
Today we are delighted to share a new and exciting development in this journey together. In May of 2025, the Board of Trustees of Asbury Theological Seminary made the decision to spin-off Seedbed to be its own completely independent company. Seedbed and ATS remain relationally connected, missionally aligned, and mutually serving the cause of awakening from our pan-Wesleyan roots.
In this matured and fruitful relationship, both Seedbed and ATS are delighted to share together in the work of spreading scriptural holiness, in the name of Jesus, throughout the world.
Here’s a quote from our own J. D. Walt on the transition.
“We will be forever grateful to our forever parent, Asbury Theological Seminary, for their steadfast care of our mission—which will forever be bonded to their mission—and their generous faith to send us forth.”
–J. D. Walt, Sower-in-Chief, Seedbed
